A practical fit guide
Start with the garment you need, then compare measurements with something you already wear.
Choosing a suit
A jacket should settle at your shoulders without pulling across the back. Button it over the shirt you plan to wear and check that the lapels lie flat. For a three-piece set, try the vest as well as the jacket; the trousers are a separate fit decision. If you are dressing for a date on the calendar, allow time for a try-on and any alterations you choose.
Choosing outerwear
Think about the layer underneath. A winter jacket needs room for a knit or mid-layer, while a lightweight bomber may sit over a tee. Compare chest, shoulder and sleeve measurements with an outer layer you own. Check the current product page for the exact fabric, care and weather details of your selected color and size.
Choosing kids’ pieces
Measure over the clothing a child will actually wear. Leave room at the shoulders and elbows for movement, and check sleeve and trouser length against a piece that fits today. The selected pack or color can differ from another option on the same product page.
